Gross Value Added in Agriculture, Hunting, Forestry and Fishing

Agriculture, Hunting, Forestry and Fishing (AHFF)

AHFF, which accounted for 8.6 percent of GDP, declined by 0.5 percent in Q2 2015 after it expanded by 3.4 percent last year. Both Fishing and Forestry declined while Agriculture showed a minimal growth.

The top contributors to the decrease of AHFF were Corn, Palay, Other crops, Forestry, and Fishing.

Agriculture grows flat

Agriculture, which accounted for 82.0 percent of AHFF, managed to grow by 0.04.percent in Q2 2015, slower than the 4.2 percent expansion last year.
Corn and Palay pulled down the growth of Agriculture the most, declining by         15.7 percent and 2.8 percent from growths of 11.8 percent and 6.4 percent, respectively. Other crops also pulled down Agriculture, experiencing a reversal from 7.7 percent to negative 6.0 percent. Onion and Tobacco significantly offset the growth of Other crops.

Forestry plummets

Forestry suffered a reversal, declining by 26.9 percent in Q2 2015 compared to the 27.1 percent growth last year.

Fishing continues to decline

Fishing continued to decline with a 1.5 percent drop from the 1.6 percent contraction in the same period a year ago.
