Household Final Consumption Expenditure

Household Final Consumption Expenditure (HFCE) decelerates

HFCE slowed down to 5.4 percent in the first quarter of 2015 from 6.1 percent in 2014. Expenditures in transport, which posted a growth of 16.4 percent, was the top contributor to the growth of this sector.

Other expenditure items that contributed to the positive growth of HFCE were: Food and non-alcoholic beverages, 3.7 percent from 4.8 percent; Miscellaneous goods and services, 3.6 percent from 6.3 percent; Restaurants and hotels, 8.4 percent from 6.8 percent; and Communication, 5.9 percent from 5.2 percent.

However, Clothing and footwear, which pulled down the growth of HFCE, registered a decline of 11.0 percent from the 11.1 percent growth in the previous year.
