NSCB Conducts Statistical Appreciation Seminar for Media

To familiarize the media with basic statistical methodologies and indicators and enhance their capacity in writing stories behind the figures released by the Philippine Statistical System (PSS), the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) will hold a Statistical Appreciation Seminar for the Media. This activity also aims to enhance NSCB’s understanding and awareness of media’s needs, insights and perspectives on statistics.
The Seminar will be held in two parts to discuss/lecture basic concepts on core indicators produced by the PSS and to serve as venue for exchange of ideas and discussions on statistical indicators to enhance the capacity of the media in communicating statistics to the general public.
The first part will be held on January 15, 2011, 8:00am-1:00pm (Saturday) at the NSCB Operations Room, Midland Buendia Bldg., 403 Sen Gil Puyat Avenue, Makati City. Among the topics for discussion include basic concepts as well as sources and methodologies on indicators produced by the NSCB such as the National Income Accounts and Poverty Statistics. The schedule for the second part which will tackle other indicators produced by the National Statistics Office (NSO), Bureau of Agricultural Statistics (BAS), Bureau of Labor and Employment Statistics (BLES) and Bangko Sentral ng Pilpinas (BSP) will be announced later.
