The objectives of the Convention are two-fold, namely:

  1. to provide a forum for exchanging ideas and experiences in the field of statistics, and for discussing recent statistical developments and prevailing issues and problems of the PSS; and

  2. to elicit the cooperation and support of statisticians and professionals in related fields from the government, academe and private sector towards a more responsive statistical system.

This year’s event promises to be special as its celebration coincides with the opening of the 15th National Statistics Month, the conduct of the International Conference on Poverty Measurement, ASEAN Task Force on Classification Meeting and Statistical Information Management Exhibition (SIMEx) to be held on October 4-6, 2004 also in the same venue. The highlights of the two-day Convention include the presentation of papers and holding of commercial exhibits.

The 9th NCS has for its theme: “Rising Beyond Global Challenges Through Quality Philippine Statistics.”
