Standards and Classification Systems

The PSA develops and prescribes uniform standards and classification systems in the generation of official statistics to ensure harmonization and comparability of statistics in the country and at the international level.

One of the functions of the PSA is to prescribe uniform standards and classification systems in government statistics.  In pursuance of this function, the PSA continually formulates statistical standards such as definitions of statistical terms and likewise develops classification systems for adoption by government agencies.
