2014 annual growth rate still at 6.1 percent
(Posted 27 May 2015)

The Philippine Statistics Authority reports that the 6.1 percent Gross Domestic Product growth in 2014 remained unchanged.  Net Primary Income (NPI) was revised downward from 7.3 percent to 4.1 percent resulting in the downward revision of Gross National Income from 6.3 percent to 5.8 percent.

Meanwhile, the annual 2013 GDP growth figure was revised downward from 7.2 percent to 7.1 percent.   NPI was revised upward from 9.0 percent to 13.1 percent, which consequently resulted in the upward revision of GNI from 7.5 percent to 8.1 percent.

The GDP growth figure for the fourth quarter of 2014 was revised downward from 6.9 percent to 6.6 percent due to downward revisions in Trade; Other Services; and Electricity, Gas, and Water Supply.  The preliminary GDP estimates for the fourth quarter were released with a shorter time lag of thirty days and based on limited data that were available as of January 2015.

NPI for fourth quarter of 2014 was revised downward from 2.8 percent to 1.4 percent.  This resulted in the downward revision of the GNI from 6.3 percent to 5.7 percent.

The PSA revises its GDP estimates based on a revision policy approved by the former NSCB Executive Board, which is consistent with international standard practices on national accounts revisions.  For more inquiries, please contact with Interim Assistant National Statistician for Macroeconomic Accounts Services Raymundo J.
